Ridgelea is a personal favorite central Austin neighborhood of mine and has been home to me for many years. Located off Bull Creek between 45th and 35th street, Ridgelea is a quaint community that is central to many of Austin’s favorite hangouts. Ridgelea is located between the communities Rosedale and Bryker Woods. The community neighbors with Texas Department of Transportation, behind that is an unofficial dog park many residents treasure.
Ridgelea is a very active community. At any given time of the day you’ll see cyclists, residents walking their dogs and people strolling through enjoying the scenery. This area is home to some of Austin’s favorite hangouts including the original Kerbey Lane Cafe – on Kerbey Lane. Its also near Central Market, the Hospital District and Brick Oven Italian Restaurant. In fact one favorite neighborhood hangout is Teo’s Gelato, the owners are in fact residents of Ridgelea.
